Our story

  • This is the story, as incredible as it is unique, of a brand that is definitely not like the others...

    1882, Romilly-sur-Seine in the Aube...

In his textile workshop, a sports enthusiast, Emile Camuset, decided to make jersey shirts for his cycling, football and rugby friends.

Without knowing it, he laid the foundations of a brand that would become legendary as the sports epics it accompanied unfolded. 130 years later, Le Coq Sportif is known and recognised for its expertise in sportswear, footwear and accessories.

Our 130 years of experience in the world of sport give us an inimitable competence, a real legitimacy.

The world of sport has always inspired the creation of our products. Creating products for top athletes has always been our challenge. Today, this spirit is still at the heart of our product philosophy.

Our products are like our brand, simple and timeless and have become a symbol of our heritage. We give our consumers what they need and nothing else.

  • Our 140 years of experience in the world of sport have given us inimitable expertise and genuine legitimacy, and the world of sport has always inspired the creation of our products. Creating products for top-level athletes has always been our challenge.

Logo 2016

Le Coq Sportif has returned to the rising sun that accompanied it on its initial representations. The blue-white-red is a nod to its historic nickname of "the brand of the tricolours". Le Coq Sportif also gains a motto: "A new day is dawning". The new brand codes express a resolutely positive state of mind: every day, a victory is possible!

Logo 2012

Le Coq Sportif is once again looking to the future, as it did at the beginning. It is emancipating itself from its historical triangle to open up, with panache and elegance, to new horizons. Symbolising the brand's renewal, this logo was drawn by the designer Ron Arad.

Logo 2009

The current logo takes the major influences of Le Coq Sportif with a modern twist. The lines of the triangle have been subtly thickened and combined with a more streamlined form of the letters.

Logo 1975

The current logo takes the major influences of Le Coq Sportif with a modern twist. The lines of the triangle have been subtly thickened and combined with a more streamlined form of the letters.

Logo 1973

For the duration of a tennis clothing line, the rooster makes infidelities to its triangle.

Logo 1972

The cockerel disappeared from the tricolour crest that adorned the outfits of French athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. The foreign teams supported by the brand had a version of the logo which was used for products sold abroad.

Logo 1968

The logo is simplified and uncluttered, with much cleaner lines. The tricolour flag has disappeared. New: the rooster now looks to the left.

Logo 1965

Refined and modernised, the logo has found its style. The cockerel still sits proudly and valiantly within a triangle placed on the French flag.

Logo 1960

To celebrate its partnership with the French team at the Rome Olympics, the rooster parades among the Olympic rings on the embroidery on the first synthetic fibre tracksuits.

Logo 1950

Refined and modernised, the logo has found its style. The cockerel still sits proudly and valiantly within a triangle placed on the French flag.

Logo 1948

The first logo is created in the classic form of a label. Next to the name of the Romilly sur Seine factory, the rooster, emblem of France and designed by Rolland Camuset, makes its first appearance.
